About LeadHER Foundation

The LeadHER Foundation, founded in 2017, was established with a bold and unwavering vision: to create a world where every young woman, irrespective of her socio-economic background, has unrestricted access to the knowledge, mentorship, and opportunities necessary to achieve her fullest potential and spark lasting, meaningful change in her community and beyond.

Our mission is rooted in empowering at-risk young women through the strategic development of three core pillars: Education, Technology, and Entrepreneurship. Through comprehensive educational initiatives, technological training, and entrepreneurial development programs, we equip participants with technical skills, critical thinking abilities, leadership qualities, and confidence needed to innovate, compete, and excel across diverse industries.

Since its inception, LeadHER Foundation has significantly expanded its reach and impact, successfully delivering transformative programs to underserved and marginalized communities, initially across Houston, Texas, and now extending to international locations, including our growing work in Nigeria. Each success story is a powerful testament to the resilience, intelligence, and brilliance of the young women who have passed through our programs, many of whom have gone on to launch impactful businesses, assume leadership roles, and drive positive change within their communities.

Our approach is holistic, inclusive, and rigorously curated to meet the evolving challenges young women face as they prepare to enter an increasingly complex, globalized, and competitive workforce. By partnering with

corporations, educational institutions, and international development organizations, LeadHER Foundation continues to dismantle barriers and create pathways for the next generation of women leaders.

About the LeadHER Data Program

The LeadHER Data Program is a flagship initiative of the LeadHER Foundation, specifically designed to bridge the critical gap between traditional academic education and the dynamic skillsets demanded by modern industry.

This intensive, 6-week, online and in-class program focuses on imparting practical, highly sought-after skills in the fields of data analysis, data visualization, and foundational coding. It is targeted at recent female graduates aged between 20 and 25 who are eager to accelerate their career readiness.

Participation in this program is completely free of charge, made possible through the generous support of our funding partners and sponsors who share our commitment to closing the gender gap in technology and data science.

In a world increasingly driven by data, organizations across sectors are in urgent need of professionals capable of interpreting, analyzing, and applying data insights to strategic decision-making. Yet, despite growing demand, many young women face significant barriers to entry into data-centric roles due to a lack of practical, hands-on training opportunities. Our program is intentionally designed to remove those barriers.

Our primary goals are to train 80 participants annually across several cohorts, achieve at least a 50% program completion rate, and ensure that a minimum of 80% of our graduates are employed or engaged in entrepreneurial ventures within six months of program completion.

The program’s structure includes a rigorous curriculum delivered through virtual weekly modules, in-class sessions with an expert instructor, the completion of a practical Capstone Project, and access to a vibrant community of aspiring data and technology professionals.

LeadHER Foundation Women-In- Tech Policies

Academic Policies and Procedures

Active and consistent participation is fundamental to a successful learning experience. Students are expected to log into the LMS regularly, engage actively in online discussion forums, attend scheduled live workshops, and complete all assignments by their respective deadlines. The recording of lectures by students is strictly prohibited.

Assignments must be submitted on or before the published deadlines. In cases of emergency or significant personal hardship, students may request an extension. Such requests must be supported by appropriate documentation and submitted in a timely manner.

Academic honesty is paramount. All assignments, projects, and communications must reflect the student’s own independent work unless collaboration is explicitly authorized by the instructor. Violations of academic integrity policies will result in disciplinary action, which may include dismissal from the program.

Students who wish to voluntarily withdraw from the program must provide written notice. Withdrawals made within the first two weeks of the program will not negatively impact eligibility for future LeadHER Foundation programs.

Academic Integrity Policy

Maintaining academic integrity is fundamental to the mission and values of the LeadHER Foundation. Students are expected to uphold honesty, trust, fairness, and responsibility in all academic activities. Violations of academic integrity, collectively referred to as academic dishonesty, are serious offenses and will result in disciplinary action.

Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, the following actions:

1.       Cheating During Examinations or Assignments:

Using unauthorized materials, copying from another student’s work, or engaging in any form of dishonesty during examinations or coursework. Examples include fabricating or falsifying citations, using concealed notes during exams, or obtaining examination materials in advance without permission.

2.       Plagiarism:

Representing another person’s work, ideas, data, or expressions as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. Forms of plagiarism include, but are not limited to:

  • Quoting a sequence of words from a source without using quotation
  • Incorporating images, recordings, computer data, or other creative work without appropriate credit.

  • Purchasing a paper, or commissioning another individual to complete assignments on the student’s

3.       Falsification or Forgery of Academic Documents:

Altering, fabricating, or forging documents related to academic processes, including admissions records, transcripts, medical certifications, or other official paperwork required by the Foundation.

4.       Unauthorized Collaboration:

Working together on assignments or assessments intended to be completed individually without explicit permission from the instructor. Unauthorized collaboration undermines fair evaluation and academic independence.

5.       Theft and Misrepresentation of Work:

Stealing another student’s academic work, research, project, or ideas and presenting it as one’s own submission for evaluation.

6.       Facilitating Academic Dishonesty:

Aiding or encouraging another student to violate academic integrity standards, whether by providing completed work, sharing answers during exams, or assisting in falsifying records.

7.       Misleading or Deceptive Conduct:

Attempting to manipulate academic evaluations or gain unfair advantage through false statements, misrepresentation of facts, or submission of falsified documents.

Consequences:

Violations of the Academic Integrity Policy will result in sanctions, which may include failing grades for the affected assignment or course, suspension, dismissal from the program, or revocation of certificates awarded. Students are encouraged to seek clarification if they are unsure whether their actions may violate academic integrity standards. Maintaining the highest level of honesty not only supports a fair and respectful community but also preserves the value of a LeadHER Foundation education.

Non-Academic Code of Conduct

At LeadHER Foundation, all students are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and personal integrity throughout their participation in our programs. Students are required to behave in a manner that reflects positively on themselves and the Foundation at all times.

Behavior that disrupts the academic environment, endangers the safety of others, or damages the Foundation’s reputation is strictly prohibited. Instructors have the authority to issue formal written warnings if a student’s behavior is deemed inappropriate. Continued misconduct following a warning will result in escalation to the Foundation’s administration, where additional disciplinary actions, including possible dismissal from the program, may be taken.

Respect, courtesy, and professionalism must be demonstrated in all forms of communication, whether in person, via email, over the phone, during virtual meetings, or in online forums. Students are expected to

treat their peers, instructors, administrative staff, and all Foundation personnel with dignity and professionalism at all times.

Harassment

LeadHER Foundation is dedicated to creating and maintaining a learning and working environment that is free from all forms of harassment and discrimination. We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment, irrespective of an individual’s race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other protected status.

Harassment in any form compromises the integrity of the educational experience, negatively impacts academic and professional performance, and threatens the personal security of members of our community. Any behavior that constitutes harassment will be addressed promptly and with the utmost seriousness.

All complaints of harassment will be thoroughly and confidentially investigated. Every effort will be made to protect the privacy and rights of both the individual making the complaint and the person accused. If harassment is substantiated, disciplinary actions, which may include dismissal from the program, will be enforced.

Students who believe they have experienced or witnessed harassment are strongly encouraged to report the matter immediately. Reports can be made confidentially to any member of the Foundation’s administration or by emailing impact@leadherfoundation.org for appropriate support and resolution.

Commitment to a Safe and Healthy Environment

The Foundation prioritizes the safety, health, and overall well-being of every member of its community. We are committed to maintaining an environment that supports learning, personal development, and professional growth.

Behavior that poses a risk to the safety of any individual, disrupts the educational process, or interferes with the operations of the Foundation will not be tolerated. Students who are found to be a danger to themselves or others, or whose actions significantly disrupt the activities of students, faculty, or staff, may face immediate suspension or permanent dismissal from the program.

The Foundation reserves the right to act swiftly and decisively in any situation that jeopardizes the physical or emotional well-being of the community. Our commitment is to ensure that all students can pursue their education in a secure and supportive environment.

Internet Usage and Online Conduct Policy

At LeadHER Foundation, access to our online learning systems, databases, and academic platforms is a critical component of the student experience. Students are expected to use these digital resources in a manner that is ethical, responsible, and in full compliance with legal standards.

All forms of electronic communication, as well as any websites visited while engaged with Foundation programs, must uphold the values of professionalism and respect. Students must refrain from accessing, transmitting, or displaying any content that could reasonably be considered offensive or inappropriate. This includes, but is not limited to, sexually explicit material, discriminatory language, or content that could insult or marginalize individuals based on their age, race, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, or political beliefs.

To maintain a secure and respectful digital environment, authorized Foundation staff monitor usage of the Foundation’s technology resources. This monitoring is conducted to ensure the integrity, security, and proper functioning of our systems.

Students should be aware that all internal communications, including emails, digital files, data, and the hardware and software provided by the Foundation, are considered the property of the LeadHER Foundation. The Foundation reserves the right to access, retrieve, and review any messages, documents, or files that are created, transmitted, or stored on its systems at any time without prior notice.

By participating in our programs, students agree to abide by these internet use guidelines and recognize the importance of maintaining a professional and respectful online learning environment.

Media and Content Usage Policy

By enrolling in the LeadHER Data Program, students grant LeadHER Foundation the right to capture, use, edit, and publish photographs, videos, audio recordings, written work, and testimonials featuring their participation. These materials may be used without further consent for marketing, promotional, educational, and fundraising purposes across platforms such as websites, social media, newsletters, press releases, and presentations.

Students may also be invited to create promotional content such as testimonials, blog posts, interviews, or social media features to support awareness campaigns. Contributions made for this purpose become the property of LeadHER Foundation, with full rights to use, modify, and distribute the material. Participation in these activities is voluntary but encouraged to help share the impact of the program.

Students waive any right to inspect or approve how their image, voice, or contributions are used. However, when appropriate, the Foundation may credit students for authored content.

If a student does not wish for their image, voice, or creative work to be publicly shared, they must notify LeadHER Foundation in writing by sending an email to impact@leadherfoundation.org within five (5) business days of the program start date. Otherwise, consent is assumed under this policy.

LeadHER Foundation values and respects the dignity of every student and is committed to using all media in a way that reflects the mission and values of the organization.

Online Student Support Services

We are dedicated to building both the academic and professional success of every student. To that end, we offer a wide range of comprehensive support services designed to enrich the learning experience and promote career readiness. Academic support is readily available throughout the program. Students have direct access to instructors for personalized guidance through scheduled office hours and email communication. Instructors provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments, projects, and assessments to help students continuously improve and achieve their learning goals.

Career development is a core component of the LeadHER experience. Our career services team organizes a series of workshops focusing on resume and cover letter writing, LinkedIn profile optimization, personal branding, and interview preparation. Students also have opportunities to attend networking events that connect them with employers, industry leaders, and alumni who can open doors to internships and job placements.

Understanding the critical importance of mental health, LeadHER Foundation provides students with referrals to trusted external counseling services. We encourage students to seek support as needed to maintain their well-being throughout the program.

Strategies for Success in an Online Learning Environment

Succeeding in an online learning environment requires more than just logging into the LMS, it demands

strong time management skills, active participation, and self-discipline.

Students should develop and maintain a consistent weekly schedule that allocates dedicated time blocks for attending virtual sessions, completing assignments, participating in discussions, and reviewing materials. Setting clear, achievable goals for each study session can help students stay organized and motivated.

Active participation is key to a rich online learning experience. Engaging thoughtfully in forum discussions, asking insightful questions, and sharing perspectives not only reinforces learning but also fosters a vibrant, collaborative online community.

Clear and respectful communication is essential. Students are encouraged to reach out to instructors and peers whenever clarification or assistance is needed. Timely communication often leads to quicker problem resolution and better academic outcomes.

Effective study habits, such as taking detailed notes during video lectures, reviewing key concepts regularly, and consulting additional resources when needed, will help students master the course material.

Finally, building relationships with fellow students, instructors, and mentors can provide invaluable professional connections and support networks that extend beyond the duration of the program.

Certificates of Completion

Students who meet all academic and participation requirements will be awarded both a digital and a physical Certificate of Completion from the LeadHER Foundation, signifying their successful mastery of the program content.

Eligibility for certification requires full completion of all course modules, submission of all assignments and projects, active participation in online discussions and live workshops, and the successful completion of a Capstone Project that meets established evaluation criteria.

Digital certificates will be issued within three weeks after program completion, while physical certificates will be given at the end of the program to eligible students. We strongly encourage graduates to showcase their certificates on LinkedIn, personal websites, and professional portfolios to enhance their employability and career prospects.

Students who opt to audit the program, or who do not complete all required coursework, will not be eligible for a Certificate of Completion.

We are an equal opportunity institution. Discrimination based on ethnicity, nationality, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or socio-economic background is strictly prohibited. All students are expected to contribute to a welcoming, inclusive community.

Students with concerns, complaints, or grievances are encouraged first to seek informal resolution by discussing the issue with their instructors or program coordinators. If the matter remains unresolved, students may escalate their concerns through a formal written grievance submitted to the Program Director for review following our established internal procedures.

Students retain full ownership of any intellectual property they create during the program. However, by enrolling, students grant the LeadHER Foundation a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use summaries of project work, photographs, and testimonials for marketing, promotional, and educational purposes without the need for additional consent.
